People of different ages, including
yours, sense that believing and belonging is important to life itself.
They have found that being believers and Christian disciples is relevant
to the decisions and opportunities that they face in their lives on a
daily basis. They have found the church to be a lively place where they
can consider a different set of priorities for daily living. There is
freedom to be both genuine and empowered to reach their full potential as
God created them.

Welcome Pastor Jerry!
At services on May 13th, a special meeting was
called to order to see if the congregation would accept the Call
Committee and the Church Council's recommendation that Pastor
Nuernberger be accepted as our new senior pastor. The congregation
voted to extend the call to Pastor Jerry by the required 2/3 majority
vote following the two services over which Pastor Jerry presided.
The Mission of our Church moves forward with the addition of our new
leadership.
A brief biography is provided for those unable
to attend the Meet and Greet session held the night before or attend the
services Sunday morning.
Pastor Nuernberger grew up in suburban
Chicago where his parents were public school teachers. While in high
school he played sports and the guitar. He attended the University
of Illinois, and then transferred to Valparaiso University as a
Junior when he decided to be a pastor. He graduated in 1983 from
Luther Northwestern Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. Over the course
of his ministry he has served a wide variety of churches: a church
of 2500 with a parochial day school (St. Paul, Minn.), a church in a
declining inner city neighborhood (Toledo, Ohio), a mid-size church
in a small rural town (Arlington, Ohio), a very large downtown
church (Sioux Falls, SD), and a two point parish that consisted of
stand alone churches in the corn fields (15 miles outside of Sioux
Falls). He has enjoyed the relationships with all ages that he has
built among those whom he as served, sharing the adventure of God’s
transformational care and mercy in the world, and living in the life
giving grace of God and inviting others to do the same.
Pastor Nuernberger has been married to his wife, Kate, for over 30
years. They have three adult sons who live in Denver, Chicago, and
New York City. His parents live in Bettendorf, Iowa where his
brother’s family lives. He has come to Western Pennsylvania where
his wife grew up (Chicora, Pa.) in order for her to spend time and
life with her large and close family from which she has been away
for many years. They have built a house outside of Stahlstown, Pa.,
and it is their hope to settle in there for the rest of their lives.
