Christian Education
Christian Education at
First primarily focuses on intentionally nurturing faith in its members
through various educational programs. Helping them become Biblically
literate and spiritually mature while living as disciples of Jesus
Christ in the world.
Confirmation
We celebrate the
affirmation of baptism for four of our youth on Sunday, May 11, 2008
during our worship services. Come and join us for this important
time in the lives of our young people and in the life of First
Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Confirmation is a two
year program for students in the seventh and eighth grade. We use the
new Here We Stand Confirmation curriculum. At the end of two years,
students who have fulfilled their confirmation covenant will receive the
Rite of Confirmation on Pentecost Sunday.

from 9am-11:30pm. Here at First Lutheran we always have a time of
celebration and fun during our VBS. Friends are encouraged to

Friendship Sunday
One
Sunday in February each year our Sunday school host Friendship Sunday.
This is a great way to introduce our friends to the life of First. A
special elementary Sunday school opening with music and Word, as well as
crafts and other surprises take place this day. This event helps teach
children, youth, and adults about evangelism.
First Holy Communion
Students in the fifth
grade or older are encouraged to participate in First Holy Communion
Classes. This is a six week class which prepares students to
participate at the Lord’s Table. If your child has already been taking
communion, at an age younger than the fifth grade, we still encourage
them to participate in First Holy Communion preparation where they will
learn more about the sacrament.
Adult Bible Studies
Two adult Bible studies
are offered from September to May each year. They are led by our
pastors. Members and friends are welcome to come and join us!
Thursday Morning with Luther is
a weekly Bible Study from 10:30 am until 12:00 noon. We gather and
read the lessons from the Daily lectionary and Luther's comments on
those lessons.
On Monday evenings from
September through May, we meet for Bible Study from 7:00 pm until 8:30
pm. We are currently studying the book of Revelation.
Wednesdays in Lent
Every Lent we gather for a light
soup supper at 6:00 pm. There is a study which follows from 6:30 -
7:15 pm. We conclude with worship in the sanctuary. Look for
details in the future.
